The Richard Rodgers Theatre has been one of New York’s premier entertainment venues for nearly a century. Originally known as Chanin’s 46th Street Theatre, this historic space has housed some of Broadway’s most famous and successful productions, including Chicago, Movin’ Out, 1776, and Seussical. Since 2015, it has been home to Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hit production chronicling the life of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. The musical broke a box office record at the theater in 2017 when it grossed over $3.85 million in only one week’s time. It can seat roughly 1,300 patrons.

Handicap Accessibility

Wheelchair accessible seating is available in the orchestra section of the theater, with as many as three companion seats available for purchase. In addition, there are a number of seats with movable armrests to accommodate guests with limited mobility. These seats are located in the orchestra section, though some require stairs to reach while others do not. Venue staff are on hand to assist handicapped guests in locating their seats.

Club/Suite Ticket Packages

Due to the small-scale size of the venue, there are no deluxe suite ticket packages available.

Patrons are prohibited from bringing in outside food or beverages. However, the theater boasts two bars in the main lobby area and on the mezzanine level offering small bites and beverages. Men’s and women’s restrooms are located on the ground floor of the venue.

Given the theater’s location in the heart of Manhattan, parking is extremely limited. Guests who choose to drive themselves there are encouraged to purchase parking in advance using the theater’s official parking service. For those who opt to take public transportation, the theater is located within a short walking distance from the 49th Street subway station via lines N, Q, R and W.
