FC Cincinnati's History

FC Cincinnati is a Major League Soccer (MLS) team based in Cincinnati, Ohio. The club was founded in 2015 by Carl H. Lindner III and Jeff Berding. Since its inception, FC Cincinnati has become one of the most popular soccer teams in the United States, thanks in part to its passionate fan base and unique history.

The club started out in the United Soccer League (USL) and quickly rose to prominence in the league. In their inaugural season in 2016, the team drew an average of 17,296 fans per game–the highest attendance in USL history. As the team continued to succeed on the field, their fan base continued to grow. In 2017, FC Cincinnati hosted the Chicago Fire in a U.S. Open Cup match at Nippert Stadium, which drew a record crowd of 32,287–the largest ever for a non-final U.S. Open Cup match.

As FC Cincinnati's popularity grew, so did the club's ambitions. In 2018, the club announced that it had been awarded an MLS expansion team, becoming the league's 26th franchise. The team played its first MLS season in 2019, and has continued to attract large crowds to its matches. In fact, in their first MLS home game, FC Cincinnati drew a crowd of 32,250 fans–the largest ever for a soccer match in Ohio.

The team's success on the field has also been impressive. In their first season in the USL, FC Cincinnati reached the semifinals of the playoffs. In 2017, the team made it to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Cup, defeating two MLS teams along the way. And in 2018, FC Cincinnati reached the final of the USL Cup, although they lost to Louisville City FC.

FC Cincinnati's unique history is also worth noting. The team's colors–blue and orange–were chosen as a nod to the city's German heritage, as well as its iconic Union Terminal building. The team's name, too, has a local connection. Cincinnati was once known as the "Queen City," and FC Cincinnati's crest features a crown to honor that history.

For fans looking to attend FC Cincinnati games, tickets can be purchased online through the team's website. Prices vary depending on the game and the seating location, but generally range from around $20 to $70. The team's home games are played at Nippert Stadium, which is located on the campus of the University of Cincinnati. The stadium has a seating capacity of 40,000, and features a unique atmosphere that includes a large, vocal supporters' section known as "The Bailey."

In conclusion, FC Cincinnati has quickly become one of the most exciting and popular soccer teams in the United States. With a passionate fan base, unique history, and impressive on-field success, the club has established itself as a force to be reckoned with in both the USL and MLS. And for fans looking to watch the team in person, there are plenty of opportunities to do so through the purchase of tickets online.
