Overview
Hello, Dolly! tells the story of an effervescent matchmaker on a mission to find a wealthy widower love. Its quirky characters and memorable score by composer Jerry Herman have made it one of the most well-known musicals in Broadway history. Hello, Dolly! first premiered on Broadway in 1964 in a well-received original run that lasted for six years and nearly 3,000 performances. Since then, the show has seen four revivals on Broadway and three revivals in London’s West End. Perhaps its most famous version, however, is the 1969 Academy Award-winning film adaptation, which starred Barbra Streisand. It has won multiple Tony Awards, Drama Desk Awards and Laurence Olivier Awards, as well as earned the No. 1 spot on the U.S. pop chart for the original 1964 cast recording. The musical’s enduring legacy continues today, as it is continuously a favorite in theaters across the globe.
