Roger Waters launched his iconic career in the 1960s as a co-founder of English rock band Pink Floyd. Originally the band’s bassist, Waters developed a more central role in the band, taking on the primary songwriting duties and sharing lead vocals. Under his creative control, Pink Floyd redefined modern rock and shattered sales records in the U.S. and their native U.K.

After dominating the music world for two decades with Pink Floyd, Roger Waters ventured out as a solo artist – and found similar success. His 1984 debut solo album The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking achieved Gold sales certification and continued his work as a concept-record genius. Waters has since released four more acclaimed albums, his most recent being 2017’s Is This the Life We Really Want?

As one of rock’s most pioneering figures, Waters penned one of the best-selling albums in history: Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon. For his work with Pink Floyd, he has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and U.K. Music Hall of Fame.
