Overview

In the three decades since their formation, Phish have become one of the most prolific rock bands in music history, largely in part to their signature live performances. They came together as college students in 1983 and as they wrote and recorded early mixtapes, they explored early jam sessions, which has since become a staple of their image. They quickly cultivated a rapid fan following which has only grown throughout the years, with some even comparing Phish’s fanbase to the Grateful Dead’s. After several years of recording albums, Phish had worked the festival circuit – including curating their own festival. The band – currently comprised of frontman/guitarist Trey Anastasio, bassist Mike Gordon, keyboardist Page McConnell and drummer Jon Fishman – have been compared to the likes of Frank Zappa and the Grateful Dead for their ambitious jams and styles that fuse all types of music, from psychedelic and alternative rock to reggae and even folk.
