Overview
From an early age, Elle King knew she wanted to be a musician. As a teenager, she learned guitar and banjo, drawing influence from artists from Otis Redding and Johnny Cash to AC/DC and Aretha Franklin. She soon began writing songs and performing local gigs in New York City before landing a record deal. King’s debut EP put her in the spotlight and she soon toured as a supporting act with artists like Ed Sheeran, Train, James Bay, Dashboard Confessional and more. In 2014, King’s debut album Love Stuff shot her to stardom thanks to the success of lead single “Ex’s & Oh’s,” which became her first No. 1 single. The song scored two Grammy nominations and introduced Elle King to the world – opening her up to millions of fans and drawing praise and attention from other artists. Her sophomore album Shake the Spirit arrived in 2018 and sees Elle King evolve as an artist – one who is bound to make waves in the music industry for many years to come.
