Busta Rhymes's History

Busta Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor George Smith Jr., is a hip-hop artist who emerged in the early 1990s. He was born on May 20, 1972, in Brooklyn, New York. Busta Rhymes’ distinctive style of delivery, his energetic stage presence, and the aggressive lyrics of his songs quickly earned him a reputation as one of the most electrifying performers in hip-hop.

Busta Rhymes’ musical journey began in the 1980s when he formed a hip-hop group called “Leaders of the New School” with two other friends, Dinco D and Charlie Brown. They signed to Elektra Records and released their debut album “A Future Without a Past…” in 1991. The album was a modest success and spawned two popular singles, “Case of the P.T.A.” and “Teachers Don’t Teach Us Nonsense.” However, the group disbanded soon after their second album due to internal conflicts.

After the disbandment of Leaders of the New School, Busta Rhymes pursued a solo career and signed to the iconic hip-hop label, “Elektra Records.” His debut album, “The Coming” was released in 1996 and was a commercial success, peaking at number 6 on the US Billboard 200. The album’s lead single, “Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check,” became a hit single in the US and around the world, and its music video was nominated for several MTV Video Music Awards.

Busta Rhymes continued to release successful albums throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, including “When Disaster Strikes…,” “Extinction Level Event: The Final Word,” and “Anarchy.” He collaborated with other popular artists, such as Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, and Mariah Carey, and his music videos featured stunning visuals and high-energy dance performances.

Throughout his career, Busta Rhymes has also been known for his electrifying live performances. From the start of his career, he has been an energetic and engaging performer, and his shows have been described as unforgettable experiences. His high-speed delivery, charismatic stage presence, and ability to engage the audience have made him one of the most beloved live performers in hip-hop.

Fans of Busta Rhymes can still catch him live in concert events across the world. Upcoming shows include performances at the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami, Florida, in July 2021 and at the Beyond Wonderland Festival in San Bernardino, California, in August 2021. Tickets to see Busta Rhymes live in concert events are available online, and fans are advised to purchase them early, as his shows are usually sold out quickly.

Busta Rhymes’ contribution to hip-hop has been immense. He is one of the few artists who can claim to have been successful for over three decades in the music industry. He has won several awards and nominations during his career, including 11 Grammy nominations and a BET Hip Hop Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020. His music has influenced a generation of hip-hop artists and fans around the world, and his live performances continue to be a much-anticipated event for music lovers everywhere.
