Alabama have cultivated one of the most celebrated careers in country music, spanning five decades and full of dozens of hit records. They formed in 1969 and earned chart play with debut single “I Want to Be With You Tonight,” but it wasn’t until their 1980 album My Home’s in Alabama did their career really take off, thanks to singles like “Why Lady Why” and “Tennessee River.” Alabama dominated music throughout the 1980s and 90s with their songs earning play on both country and adult contemporary charts. Despite hiatuses taken throughout the 2000s, they are back together and celebrating a milestone 50 years in music.
