Top Ten Events Happening in April 2018

March came in like a lion and out a lamb, and now April is here to officially usher in springtime, bringing with it some of the year’s top events. We’re breaking down the top ten events happening this month.

NCAA Division I Basketball Championship – April 1-2

March Madness did not disappoint, delivering its fair share of thrills, upsets, and even a Cinderella story for the books. The journey for greatness all comes down to one final game. Final Four weekend kicks off Friday night in Columbus, Ohio with women’s hoops. Mississippi State will take on Louisville followed by UConn vs. Notre Dame to advance to the championship game on Easter Sunday. In San Antonio, all eyes will be on the men’s Final Four games featuring Michigan vs. Loyola-Chicago and Villanova vs. Kansas. The bracket will be completed Monday night in what is sure to be a blockbuster battle.

The Masters Golf Tournament – April 5-8

Golf fans may now rejoice. The calendar has once again flipped to April and the battle for the Green Jacket will soon commence at The Masters. The world’s best will meet at Augusta National Golf Club for the game’s most storied and prestigious tournament, which begins its four-day run on Thursday, April 5. Former champions Jordan Spieth, Bubba Watson, Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia are among the distinguished golfers in the field. However, a heightened sense of excitement surrounds Tiger Woods in his notable return to Augusta – his first appearance in three years.

WWE Wrestlemania XXXIV – April 8

The WWE’s annual bash returns once again for its 34th installment. Wrestlemania XXXIV is set to entertain thousands of fans from New Orleans’ Mercedes-Benz Superdome April 8. The WWE continues to add star matches to Wrestlemania’s billing with each passing day. Confirmed to take part so far are notable faces like Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns in the Universal Championship, UFC champ Ronda Rousey in a Mixed Tag Team bout, and John Cena vs. The Undertaker in a mammoth match.

NHL Playoffs – April 11-ongoing

Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins are in the hunt to defend their Stanley Cup win last year as NHL Playoffs kick off this month. The Penguins are poised to join rivals Washington, Boston, Columbus and Tampa Bay to compete for the Eastern Conference title. In the Western Conference, the Nashville Predators are looking to get back into the Stanley Cup Finals after securing a playoff berth following a convincing winning record in the Central Division. Winnipeg and San Jose are also playoff bound in the Western Conference, as are the Las Vegas Golden Knights after an impressive inaugural season.

Coachella Music Festival – April 13-15, 20-22

The nation’s most famed music festival promises to be quite the spectacle for its latest installment. Serving as headliners for the two-weekend party are The Weeknd, BeyoncĂ© and Eminem. While all three are first-time headliners, they’ve certainly paid their dues in order to snag the coveted performance slots; The Weeknd has appeared at Coachella twice before, BeyoncĂ© had to pull out of the headlining gig last year per doctor’s orders during her pregnancy with twins Sir and Rumi, and Eminem is pegged to headline several major festivals this spring. Joining them in the California desert are dozens of artists across multiple genres, including Cardi B, Portugal. the Man, SZA, Kygo, Post Malone, Migos, Miguel, Vance Joy and HAIM.

NBA Playoffs – April 13-30

The usual suspects are once again in the hunt to become NBA champions (looking at you, LeBron, Curry, and D. Wade). This year’s NBA Playoffs get underway April 13 with the Raptors, Celtics and Cavs leading the charge in the Eastern Conference competition. Opposite them in the Western Conference are the likes of Houston, Golden State, Portland and Oklahoma City. It may be too early to predict whether we’ll be treated to the fourth Cavs-Warriors final in as many years, but the playoffs will certainly give indication of who will be standing atop the league in June.

Bon Jovi’s This House is Not For Sale Tour has been in the midst of a successful second leg, but it’s about to get much more special. The legendary band will be formally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame April 14. While the tour’s associated album is the first Bon Jovi LP without longtime guitarist Richie Sambora, he will reunite with his former bandmates for the induction – an event that fans are sure to go nuts over. Bon Jovi will perform in Boston, Montreal and Newark prior to the Rock Hall induction. They’ll close out the month with shows in Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh, Chicago, St. Paul and Milwaukee. Camila Cabello: Never Be The Same Tour – Various Dates

Former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello has one final box to check off before completing her transition into full-fledged solo star: a headlining tour. Cabello will soon have that under her belt as she embarks on her Never Be The Same tour this month. The trek kicks off April 9 in Vancouver and visits 14 additional cities, including Boston, Chicago, Denver, Milwaukee and Seattle. News of her first solo tour has been a long time coming. Cabello departed the X Factor-formed girl group in December 2016 and later released solo singles last summer, including the smash hit “Havana.” Her self-titled debut album topped charts upon its release in January, and Cabello’s dedicated fan base have been waiting with bated breath ever since for the singer to go on tour. While the Never Be The Same tour may be brief, Cabello will remain on the road the next few months; she was recently announced as a supporting act on Taylor Swift‘s Reputation stadium tour.

Kenny Chesney: Trip Around the Sun Tour – April 18-ongoing

Frequent touring performer Kenny Chesney opted to play only one major stadium gig last year and seemingly missed the thrill; He’s embarking on a massive stadium tour starting this month. Chesney will travel to 18 NFL venues on his Trip Around The Sun Tour. He’ll also visit 20 amphitheaters throughout the coming months, before concluding with a two-night stint at Gillette Stadium. Joining Chesney on select dates are Thomas Rhett, Old Dominion, Dierks Bentley and Brandon Lay. It all kicks off April 18 in Tampa.

Foo Fighters: Concrete and Gold Tour – April 18-ongoing

Dave Grohl and company have kept quite busy since releasing their latest album Concrete and Gold last year. The band spent months on the road last fall and an unrivaled popularity keeps them coming back for more. A second North American leg of their Concrete and Gold Tour begins April 18 in Austin and extends through October. Also this month, the Foo Fighters will headline Florida’s Welcome to Rockville festival alongside Ozzy Osbourne and Avenged Sevenfold.
