We’re only nine innings away from crowning a new MLB champion. The topsy-turvy 2019 World Series will close with a decisive Game 7 after the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals have traded wins on the road in the first six meetings. But while a clinching, final game is typically the strongest seller in all of sports, World Series Game 7 tickets remain rather cool.
The Astros and Nats face their final battle in Houston, which has been the more mellow market thus far. Average ticket prices in the three previous Houston-held games were all lower than those in DC. In addition, fans faced a more affordable price tag for stadium entry. With Game 7 only hours away, admission into Minute Maid Park has tumbled to its lowest price of the entire series. Tickets currently start at a cool $466, over $1,000 less than what could have been a Washington sweep in Game 4.
World Series Game 7 Tickets – “Get-In” Costs Over Course of Series
The up-and-down pattern of World Series Game 7 tickets reflects a larger trend in Houston. Locals witnessed the Astros win their first World Series only two years ago. Their return comes with less hype than in 2017 and therefore, lower demand for tickets. This has been a recurring theme over the years with playoff heavyweights. On the other hand, Nationals fans are eager to see the franchise claim their first title after a magical run that began as a Wild Card. They filled Nationals Park in droves to catch Games 3-5 at premium ticket prices. As a result, Washington-based games saw more secondary market sales than Houston’s.
While Washington has been the more aggressive city from a ticketing standpoint, it will soon be decided which club is superior. Game 7 of the World Series gets underway tonight at 7 p.m. in Houston. Find tickets for the game, at the lowest price of the entire series, here.
