Valentine’s Weekend Events Guide

With Valentine’s Day falling in the middle of the week this year, it can be hard to celebrate the way you want to. Drop the boring dinner-and-a-movie cliché and plan a date night you’ll both love this Valentine’s Day (give or take a few days from February 14). Check out our recommendations for all the Valentine’s weekend events that will surely make it memorable. 

Comedy Shows

 

  • Kevin Hart

Don’t settle for seeing Kevin Hart on the big screen when you can catch him live. The actor/comic will be in the Midwest over Valentine’s weekend. His Irresponsible Tour makes timely stops in Kalamazoo (Feb. 9), Cedar Rapids (Feb. 10), and Springfield, Ill. (Feb. 11).

  • Jeff Dunham

Spend a night together laughing thanks to Jeff Dunham and his beloved character puppets. The ventriloquist can be found bouncing between east coast cities this weekend and next. Dunham has shows scheduled in Manchester, New Hampshire (Feb. 9), Baltimore (Feb. 10), Philadelphia (Feb. 11), Newark (Feb. 16), Providence (Feb. 17) and Bangor, Maine (Feb. 18).

  • John Mulaney

Former Saturday Night Live writer John Mulaney returns to New York for a string of shows at historic Radio City Music Hall. The stand-up comic will perform a total of seven shows from February 16-19, so be sure to pencil him into you Valentine’s plans.

Concerts

  • Billy Joel

The Piano Man takes a quick break from his residency at Madison Square Garden to entertain a Tampa crowd at Amalie Arena February 9. Joel’s sell-out concerts never disappoint, but will make for an unforgettable Valentine’s date especially with sentimental ballads like “Just The Way You Are” and “She’s Always a Woman” included in the set.

  • Bruno Mars

Fresh off his clean sweep at the Grammys, Bruno Mars is giving Las Vegas one final taste of his 24K Magic World Tour before he takes it to Australia. Mars will headline the Park Theater at the Monte Carlo Resort for four nights, including weekend shows February 16-17. Although his music knows how to get a party started, Bruno Mars will also be able to help concert goers celebrate their Valentine with romantic hits like “Marry You” and “Just The Way You Are.”

Theatre Shows

  • Phantom of the Opera

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic musical with a haunting love story is a perennial favorite among theatre-goers. The Tony-winning show remains a mainstay on Broadway at the Majestic Theatre for those planning a Valentine’s weekend trip to New York City. Touring productions of the show land in Greenville, South Carolina February 9-11 and Tampa from February 14-18.

  • Dirty Dancing

Beloved 80s romance flick Dirty Dancing jumps to life in this smash stage adaptation. Have the time of you life with this high-energy show, which invades San Diego February 9-11 and Palm Desert, Calif. the following weekend.

Sports
  • NHL

There’s plenty of NHL action to go around if you opt to take in a sports game for date night. Reining Stanley Cup champions Pittsburgh have a pair on intriguing games on their hands. They’ll host Toronto February 17 and travel to Columbus the following night for a divisional clash with the Blue Jackets.

  • NBA

NBA fans looking to catch a great game should look no further than an Eastern conference meeting between the Celtics and Cavs in Boston February 11. On the west coast, the NBA All Star Rookie and Celebrity Games take place on Friday, February 16 and promises to be must-see entertainment. The infamous Kiss Cam will be out in full force during these Valentine’s weekend events, so prepare to pucker up!

  • The Harlem Globetrotters

Are you looking for a laid-back Valentine’s date full of laughs? Look no further than the Harlem Globetrotters. The comedy basketball troupe can be caught at major arenas across the country this weekend and next, including cities like Anaheim, Baton Rouge, Tulsa, Albany, and Raleigh.
