Las Vegas has added another global star to its entertainment scene. Sting revealed he’s coming to Sin City for a new residency show at the Caesars Palace Colosseum in 2020.
The legendary musician will launch the show, dubbed Sting: My Songs, in May 2020. It is currently scheduled for a 16-date run extending to September of next year, though it’s possible more dates will be added based on the demand. The year-long wait before the show’s debut may seem extreme, but allows Sting to hone in on the production details involved in its creation. According to an official statement on his website, the gig “will present a compendium of Sting’s songs with dynamic, visual references to some of his most iconic videos and inspirations.”

His residency news coincides with the release of Sting’s fourteenth studio album My Songs, due out next month. The LP features re-workings of fifteen of Sting’s biggest hits both with The Police and as a solo artist, including “Every Breath You Take,” “Roxanne,” “Fields of Gold,” and “Message in a Bottle.”
A Vegas residency is rather unexpected given Sting’s frequent status as a road warrior. He’ll spend the summer touring the U.K. and Europe in support of My Songs, and has a handful of U.S. dates mapped out as well. Last year, he embarked on a co-headlining tour with Shaggy in support of their joint record 44/876. The collaboration earned Sting his 17th Grammy earlier this year when it picked up the award for Best Reggae Album.
The English rocker is now the latest artist to occupy the Colosseum at Ceasars Palace. Journey recently announced their stint at the Vegas venue this fall, while James Taylor launched his 12-date limited engagement last week. Caesars will now need to fill the major void left by Celine Dion when she wraps her residency in June after eight lucrative years, as well as compete with the likes of Park MGM and Planet Hollywood’s residency shows featuring high-profile performers like Lady Gaga, Aerosmith and Christina Aguilera.
