Warriors Playoff Ticket Prices Face Downward Trend

After winning the NBA Finals three of the last four seasons, the Golden State Warriors novelty may finally be wearing off. The Warriors’ winning ways and familiar presence in the postseason has sent their ticket prices on a downward trend. 2019 Warriors playoff ticket prices are on track to be significantly lower than previous years and continue a steady decline.

Dub Nation are facing major savings on Golden State playoff tickets as they begin their quest for a third consecutive NBA Championship. Preliminary sales for the Warriors Western Conference Quarterfinals games against the Clippers see tickets going for $235 on average. That figure is nearly half of the $453 average fans paid throughout the Warriors 2016 playoff trip to the Finals and the latest drop in a string of declining prices. Since 2016, Warriors playoff ticket prices have tumbled an average of 18 percent each year – a strong signal that their dominance has become tired.

Warriors Playoff Ticket Prices

Home playoff games for the Warriors typically fare higher priced than road games, though tickets into Oracle Arena are also becoming more affordable. Fans can grab tickets into Golden State’s first two home games of the playoffs for an average of $312, a staggering $200 cheaper than only two years ago.

The most notable factor impacting the Warriors playoff ticket prices is the absence of LeBron James in the postseason. Last year’s fourth-straight meeting between LeBron’s Cleveland Cavaliers and the Warriors drew considerable less excitement, and ultimately less demand for tickets, as the championship match-up became the norm. LeBron’s disappointing first season with the Lakers may have shut him out of the playoffs, but also offered a shake-up to the Warriors regular season ticket prices.

Golden State had stood atop the league in having the highest overall ticket prices for several seasons, but LeBron’s move to the Lakers brought in plenty of hype to Los Angeles, resulting in skyrocketing ticket prices. The Western Conference rivals faced similar average ticket prices this season, with the Lakers edging the Warriors slightly $223 to $198.

While the Warriors playoff ticket prices may be on the decline in 2019, they are still in higher demand than the rest of the playoff field given their No. 1 seeding. Get-in prices for Golden State’s first two home games of the Western Conference Quarterfinals currently stand at $116 and $107, respectively. Eastern Conference No. 1 Milwaukee Bucks are pulling minimum prices of $93 and $86 for their initial playoff games while No. 2 Toronto Raptors are on the Warriors heels with their home games garnering get-in prices of $110 and $95.

  1. Methodology seems questionable on this article. At this moment, the 2019 playoffs are still in the first round, yet this article compares them to all rounds in previous years. Of course, first round playoff tickets are going to be cheaper than the average of all playoff rounds–for any team in the playoffs.
