Hugh Jackman to Bring ‘The Greatest Showman’ on Tour

Hugh Jackman continues to flex his muscles as one Hollywood’s most versatile stars by embarking on a massive world tour next summer. The multi-talented actor will headline major arenas on his “The Man. The Music. The Show.” Tour, featuring the music from The Greatest Showman, Les Miserables and more.

“This is a dream come true for me,” Jackman told the hosts of the Today Show on Thursday, where he broke the exciting news. “I’ve done it in Australia but now I’m going to go around the world.”

The impressive tour will begin in May with a 12-date leg around Europe and the U.K. Jackman will launch his string of North American shows in Houston on June 18, and visit an additional 19 cities over a month’s span. Among the itinerary are stops in Philadelphia, San Diego, Tampa, Toronto, Chicago and Denver, as well as two-night stints at Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl.

Far from being a one-man show, Jackman revealed that he will be taking the stage each night alongside a 26-piece orchestra and some two dozen singers/dancers. The Tony winner also added that fans can expect a robust setlist filled with show tunes from various Broadway productions, including A Boy From Oz and Les Miserables, plus the record-breaking The Greatest Showman soundtrack.

Jackman, 50, has been at the center of a musical mania since The Greatest Showman was released last December. The Aussie actor scored a Golden Globe nomination for his starring role as P.T. Barnum and the film – also starring Michelle Williams, Zac Efron and Zendaya – enjoyed tremendous success at the box office, raking in over $430 million worldwide.

However, its soundtrack (penned by Dear Evan Hansen songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul), has truly been the factor that’s kept The Greatest Showman‘s popularity soaring. It topped the Billboard 200 chart and was a fixture in the Top 10 for over 30 weeks, making it one of only seven soundtracks to do. It also reigns as the best-selling album in the U.S. this year.

Most recently, a revamped cover version of the soundtrack was released and features the likes of Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Panic! at the Disco, Zac Brown Band and more top artists.
