Halsey is the latest artist to alter tour dates

Pop singer Halsey has briefly paused her Hopeless Fountain Kingdom tour after abruptly walking out mid-set during her November 14 show at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary. The unexpected incident makes her the latest in a long string of artists to alter tour dates.

Citing a “personal emergency,” Halsey also canceled her Edmonton show scheduled for the following night. The “Bad at Love” singer addressed the issue on her Instagram, telling fans, “This is breaking my heart but I have to take a few days to gain my composure so I can put on the best show possible in Minneapolis and finish out the tour with a bang. I’ll make it up to the fans in Canada. Thank you for understanding and respecting the privacy of me and those close to me during this time.” She added that the final four shows of her Hopeless Fountain Kingdom tour will resume as scheduled.

Halsey is the latest major artist to alter tour dates due to personal reasons, joining each of the following.

Ed Sheeran – Sheeran’s Divide Tour hit a bump when he was forced to postpone a string of shows in Southeast Asia after injuring both arms in a bicycle accident. The “Perfect” singer quickly bounced back and resumed the tour a few weeks later.

Mariah Carey – Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You Tour was initially supposed to bring her to cities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Ohio before taking residency at New York’s Beacon Theatre. However, the Grammy winner canceled the opening dates, citing an upper respiratory infection. She will begin the holiday tour on November 27.

Shakira – Just this week, the Colombian sensation announced she was postponing the entire European leg of her El Dorado World Tour, citing a vocal hemorrhage in her right vocal chord. Shakira wrote to her fans that she will return to all scheduled European cities at some point in 2018, allowing sufficient time for proper recovery.

Foo Fighters – Three of Foo Fighters’ Concrete and Gold Tour dates were altered in October when the band was forced to postpone the shows due to a “family emergency.” No information regarding the situation was ever specified, however, the band is back on the road now through the end of the year with over two dozen additional dates on the itinerary for next summer.

Lady Gaga – Like Shakira, Mother Monster also postponed the European leg of her Joanne World Tour after announcing her battle with fibromyalgia. Gaga revealed to fans “severe physical pain” was keeping her from performing as scheduled, and an in-depth view into her health issues were made public shortly after with the release of her Netflix documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two. She is expected to make up the postponed dates in 2018.

Bob Seger – After undergoing surgery last month, Seger was forced to postpone a stretch of Runaway Train tour dates with his Silver Bullet Band. The rocker revealed he is hopeful to resume touring early next year in a move that surely pleased his eager fans.
