After Kevin Hart eclipsed him in ticket sales last year, Jeff Dunham now has the last laugh. The ventriloquist dominated the industry and ends his year atop the list of best-selling comedians.
A perennial fan-favorite, Dunham secured his top comic status thanks to his extensive touring schedule. His Passively Aggressive and Seriously?!? tours provided dozens of shows throughout the past 12 months. Additionally, Dunham routinely headlines arenas, giving him a leg-up against his fellow comics who frequent theaters.
But venue size did not hinder Jerry Seinfeld. The massively popular funnyman – a mainstay at mid-size theaters – pulled impressive sales figures to trail only Dunham on the year-end list. However, it’s worth noting that Jerry Seinfeld tickets are significantly higher than Dunham and many other comics on the list. Fans paid $177 on average to see the star perform, the second-highest price tag of the year’s 20 best-selling comedians. Dave Chappelle notched the highest average ticket cost per show at $209.
Other big names making the cut include Daily Show host Trevor Noah, Adam Sandler for his 100% Fresh Tour, and Parks and Recreation‘s Nick Offerman and Aziz Ansari.
