Spring Spotlight: 7 Broadway Shows to Look Forward to This Season

Spring is in the air, and Broadway is gearing-up for a season filled with various productions. From timeless classics to contemporary adaptations, there’s something for everyone to enjoy on the Great White Way. 

As the curtains rise, let’s take a closer look at seven Broadway shows opening this spring. Theater-goers can secure their spots to one of these shows at Ticket Club – where members never pay hidden service fees.

The Notebook 

Based on Nicholas Sparks’s beloved novel, “The Notebook” musical adaptation brings romance to the forefront at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. With music and lyrics by Ingrid Michaelson and a book by Bekah Brunstetter, this love story is brought to life under the direction of Michael Greif and Schele Williams. Starring an ensemble cast including John Cardoza and Dorian Harewood, this production is already making waves, having joined the “$1 Million Club” within its first week of showings.

The official opening date is slated for March 14.

Water for Elephants 

Step into the world of Sara Gruen’s best-selling novel with the musical adaptation of “Water for Elephants.” The Broadway production transports audiences to a bygone era of circus spectacle and unexpected romance at Broadway’s Imperial Theatre – with music and lyrics by PigPen Theatre Co. and a book by Rick Elice.

The first preview took place on February 24, with the official opening expected for March 21 under director Jessica Stone. The play stars Grant Gustin, Isabelle McCalla, Gregg Edelman, Paul Alexander Nolan, Stan Brown, Joe De Paul, and Sara Gettelfinger.

An Enemy of the People 

Henrik Ibsen’s classic play receives a contemporary twist in this adaptation by Amy Herzog. Led by Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild-winner Jeremy Strong, this production explores themes of truth, integrity, and the consequences of challenging the status quo. Starring alongside Strong is Michael Imperioli and Victoria Pedretti. 

First previews began at Circle in the Square Theatre on February 27 and is set to officially open on March 18.

The Outsiders 

S.E. Hinton’s timeless coming-of-age tale comes to life in this stage adaptation at Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. With music and lyrics by Jamestown Revival and a gripping book by Adam Rapp and Justin Levine, “The Outsiders” captures the essence of youth, friendship, and the quest for belonging.

First previews are set to begin on March 16 with opening night scheduled for April 11. “The Outsiders” includes cast members Brody Grant, Sky Lakota-Lynch, Joshua Boone, Brent Comer, Jason Schmidt, Emma Pittman, Daryl Tofa, and Kevin William Paul under the direction of Danya Taymor.

Lempicka

Delve into the world of artist Tamara de Lempicka in this biomusical at the Longacre Theatre. With a score by Matt Gould and Carson Kreitzer’s book and lyrics, “Lempicka” offers a glimpse into the life of a trailblazing woman ahead of her time.

Starring Eden Espinosa and Amber Iman, previews are expected to begin on March 19, with an opening night set for April 14 under the helm of Rachel Chavkin.

Hell’s Kitchen 

Experience the energy of New York City in this coming-of-age musical inspired by Alicia Keys’ upbringing. With music and lyrics by Keys herself and book by Kristoffer Diaz, “Hell’s Kitchen” transfers to Broadway’s Shubert Theatre following its Off-Broadway run at Public Theater. 

Directed by Michael Greif and starring Shoshana Bean, Brandon Victor Dixon, Kecia Lewis, Chris Lee, Maleah Joi Moon, first previews are slated to begin March 28, followed by an April 20 opening. 

The Great Gatsby 

Featuring a score by Jason Howland, lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and a book by Kait Kerrigan, “The Great Gatsby” is headed to the stage. Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, the musical adaptation is set to star Jeremy Jordan, Eva Noblezada, Noah J. Ricketts, Samantha Pauly, Sara Chase, John Zdrojeski, Paul Whitty, and Eric Anderson under the direction of Marc Bruni. 

The first preview is scheduled for March 29 at Broadway Theatre, with opening night set for April 25.
