Shohei Ohtani Signing Sets LA Dodgers ’24 Ticket Prices On Fire

A generational 2-way superstar is heading to a historically great team coming off a 100-win season in the second-largest media market in the United States – and the ticket market for that ballclub has just exploded – go figure. Since new broke that Shohei Ohtani would sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers in a blockbuster deal, ticket prices for seeing the Japanese pitching and hitting sensation have put the rest of baseball to shame, according to data analyzed by Ticket Club over the past few days.

The average price paid by fans to see the Dodgers play at Chavez Ravine in 2024 has exploded since Saturday’s news of the signing – jumping from $163 per ticket on average to an astonishing $255 – that’s $92 higher or just about 57 percent. The Ohtani effect doesn’t stop there, however.

Ticket Club sales data shows that just shy of 80 percent of the orders for Los Angeles Dodgers tickets in 2024 made since the team’s playoff exit in early October have been made this week. Since Ohtani news broke, seven of the Top 10 best-selling baseball games involve the Dodgers – with fans both in LA and in visiting markets ponying up big bucks to see the former Angel in Dodger Blue. When sorting by the average ticket price paid, Dodgers baseball games come in at No. 1, 2, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 18, and 19 in the Top 20 of sales.

What does that mean for consumer shopping for tickets to see Shohei Ohtani pitch and hit in Dodger blue? Every discount counts- and Ticket Club is where to find the best one out there, since members don’t pay service fees.

Los Angeles Dodgers opening day tickets – the club opens at Chavez Ravine against the St. Louis Cardinals on March 28 – currently have a “get-in” price of $401 on Ticket Club. Single Game tickets are not yet available through the team itself as of mid-December, and it is likely that a minimal amount will be made available through that route anyways. On the ballclub’s official resale partner, the minimum price for an available ticket is $437 per seat after fees are tacked on, and other high profile resale marketplaces are at that figure or higher, generally.

The next series for the Dodgers – a set against a San Francisco Giants club that was also in the running to sign the superstar – has tickets starting as low as $91 each at Ticket Club, while fans in the Bronx are seeing tickets for Ohtani’s first visit with the Dodgers to Yankee Stadium in June go for at least $84 per ticket.

Another hot early game for tickets is the Los Angeles Angels heading across town for a series at Dodger Stadium beginning on June 21. Tickets to see that Friday night game start at $180 and range as high as $2,813 for those who want to catch a first look for in-season action against Ohtani’s former club.

It may only be December, but clearly the Dodgers have supercharged their fan interest with this headline-grabbing deal with the two-time MVP.
