Pop icon Paula Abdul is coming to Las Vegas this summer with her first-ever residency show, dubbed Paula Abdul: Forever Your Girl.
The singer will launch her new gig at the Flamingo Las Vegas on August 13 and perform sporadically throughout the remainder of the year. She has a total of 20 dates planned for the show’s first leg, which will wrap on January 4.
“It’s a real thrill to have the iconic Flamingo Las Vegas welcome me to their stage,” she said in a statement. “After 30 years as an entertainer, I can’t think of any better place to showcase my love for performing than Las Vegas.”
Abdul joins Donny and Marie Osmond on the marquee of the Flamingo Las Vegas, but soon may become the venue’s sole headliner, as the Osmonds will end their long-running residency in November. She is the latest in a string of artists to bring their talents to the Strip, as Aerosmith, James Taylor, Christina Aguilera and Janet Jackson are all debuting new residencies this year.
She will celebrate her 30-year career throughout the show, which is named for her 1988 debut album. The effort spawned No. 1 singles “Cold Hearted,” “Opposites Attract,” “Forever Your Girl,” and her best-selling hit to date, “Straight Up.”
After being a force as a singer-dancer-choreographer throughout the 1990s, Abdul was a staple on television sets from 2002-2010 as a judge on American Idol. She broke a 25-year hiatus from touring in 2017 when she teamed up with New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men on their co-headlining Total Package Tour. Last summer, Abdul embarked her Straight Up Paula Tour, a 26-date solo trek across North America.
