Chelsea Handler is back! This spring, the comedian will release her first book in five years – a memoir – and head out on an unconventional “sit-down” comedy tour in support.
Handler’s first memoir Life Will Be the Death of Me is due out April 9. Two days later, she’ll embark on a brand new comedy tour in support. The trek will begin in Boston and travel cross-country to an additional 15 cities before wrapping June 1 in San Francisco. Among the itinerary are stops in Houston, Chicago, New York, Miami and Los Angeles.
Unlike her typical stand-up routines, Handler’s latest comedy venture will be a “sit-down” tour. Promoter Live Nation revealed in a statement that the tour will “feature Chelsea in conversation, discussing stories from the new book and more.” As for the memoir itself, readers can expect Handler’s signature self-deprecating and irreverent tone to come through as she writes of her life from childhood through today.
The former host’s view on modern politics is of particular focus in portions of the book, given that she spent the last year and a half dedicated to social and political activism. In October 2017, Handler announced plans to walk away from her eponymous Netflix talk show for the cause. “My goal is to be better informed, raise my voice and participate in a more meaningful way. I want to travel the country and visit areas and people I don’t know enough about, speak at colleges and listen to students, and gain a better understanding of our political divide,” she said in a statement.
While teasing her new memoir, Handler also shared that she has a new documentary dropping soon. Details about that project remain unknown. However, it will likely be available on Netflix as part of Handler’s ongoing partnership with the streaming giant.
I have a new book and a new documentary coming out this year. I took the time to focus on the things in this world I can do something about and I’m excited to announce both soon.
