CFP National Championship Ticket Prices Falling For Michigan vs. Washington

After a thrilling set of semifinal matchups, the College Football Playoffs National Championship is set – the unbeaten and top seed Michigan Wolverines will face fellow unbeaten and No. 2 seed Washington at NRG Stadium in Houston on January 8. And for fans of those two programs (or just people who love college football in general), there’s some good news – ticket prices are falling as the kickoff approaches.

According to Ticket Club sales data, the average price fans have paid for tickets to Michigan vs. Washington in Texas have dropped by a whopping 40% since the semifinals were completed on New Year’s Day. When Alabama and Texas were both still in the mix, the average ticket price paid for the game at NRG Stadium got up to $3,746. But after those storied schools were eliminated (particularly Texas, which is located less than three hours drive from NRG Stadium), the prices have averaged just $2,239 per ticket on Ticket Club.

The price drop of some $1,500 is almost equal to the average price being paid per ticket for the CFP National Championship game before the semifinalists were announced in early December: $1,587, and is slightly less than the average price of $2,530 that fans were paying per ticket between the semifinal announcement and the game on January 1st.

CFP National Championship average ticket prices at Ticket Club for Michigan vs. Washington

As of Wednesday afternoon, the “get-in” price for Monday’s game is hovering a bit above $1,000 for seats in the 600 level. Seats in the 500 level are priced at $1,360 and up, with 300-level passes at $1,874 and up. Lower bowl seats start at $1,925 for a spot in the corner, with prices for seats along the sidelines closer to $2,500 per seat and up.

For those really looking to splurge, there’s also the option to spring for a suite at $105,653 – though much more of a bargain when you consider that lets you bringĀ  more than 20 friends along with you (so really an average price of just over $4,000).

For those looking to secure the cheapest option to cheer on the Wolverines or Huskies (or just to see who gets to raise the trophy), remember that members at Ticket Club pay zero service fees – the price you see is the price you get as long as you are a member. And if you’re not a member, the $49.99 membership price sure beats paying a service fee somewhere else, particularly for a game with tickets going for such a premium as this one.
