Get ready for a blast from the past! New Kids on the Block are ready to give 2019 a heavy dose of the 80s with their North American Mixtape Tour, they announced today.
The massive tour will visit over 50 cities across the U.S. and Canada next summer and features a stellar supporting lineup of Salt-N-Pepa, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson and Naughty By Nature joining the boy band. All five acts teamed up for the aptly named surprise track “80s Baby,” which also dropped today in conjunction with the tour announcement.
This isn’t the first time New Kids on the Block have recruited other dominant acts of the 80s and 90s to join them on tour. In 2011, they joined forces with the Backstreet Boys for the wildly successful co-headlining NKOTBSB Tour and followed it up with 2013’s North American tour with 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men. Most recently, they hit the road in 2016 with Boyz II Men again and Paula Abdul, marking her first tour in 20 years.
Catch the generation-defining artists on the throwback-filled tour, which launches May 2 in Cincinnati. It will extend through mid-July and visit major markets like Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Orlando, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis and NKTOB’s hometown of Boston. A June 19 gig in Toronto marks the lone Canadian show of the tour.
Along with the Mixtape Tour, New Kids on the Block will also gift fans with new music in 2019. In a recent sold-out show at New York’s famed Apollo Theater, group members Jordan Knight, Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McEntyre, Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood celebrated the 30th anniversary of their breakthrough album Hangin’ Tough by revealing that a special anniversary issue of the LP would be released in 2019 with new music. The record made the boy band a household name thanks to the success of singles “Cover Girl,” “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” and “I’ll Be Loving You (Forever).”
That’s right, Blockheads! We’re coming to a city near you in 2019 on the #MixtapeTour! We’ll be joined by very special guests @TheSaltNPepa, @naughtybynature, @tiffanytunes, and @debbiegibson. Tickets on sale this Friday at 10am EST with fan presale starting tomorrow 10am EST. pic.twitter.com/p04oh1v65d
