Star-Studded Mac Miller Tribute Concert Planned

Less than a month after Mac Miller’s tragic death, the late rapper’s family and management have announced plans for a star-studded night in his memory. The Mac Miller tribute concert, dubbed Mac Miller: A Celebration of Life, will take place October 31 at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles and feature appearances from Travis Scott, John Mayer, Ty Dolla $ign, Chance the Rapper, SZA and many more.

Miller, born Malcolm McCormick, was found dead of an apparent drug overdose in his Los Angeles apartment September 7. He was only 26. In the wake of his passing, several artists across the industry have paid tribute to the Pittsburgh-born rapper, though no formal Hollywood memorial has taken place until now. Mac Miller: A Celebration of Life will not only serve as a memorial to Miller, but will also launch the Mac Miller Circles Fund, a charity initiative to serve underprivileged youth and their exploration of the arts.

“The support we’ve experienced is evident in this amazing line-up and is a testament to Malcolm’s incredible life,” said [Miller’s mother] Karen Meyers in a statement. “His Father, brother and I are beyond thankful to everyone who is working to make this concert happen along with every fan and every friend for continuing to support Malcolm and his vision. He was a caring, loving human with a smile that could light up the sky and a soul that was out to make the world a kinder place and the MMCF will continue to do just that.”

All proceeds from the evening will directly benefit the MMCF, which will be managed by Miller’s estate and management.
