This year’s music festival circuit continues to shape up, with the 2019 Governors Ball the latest fest to unveil its lineup. Florence + the Machine, Tyler, The Creator and The Strokes headline the star-studded lineup, which features dozens of artists spanning all genres.
The weekend-long festival, scheduled to take place May 31 through June 2, will kick off with a headlining gig from Tyler the Creator. Other notable artists comprising the Friday schedule include Lil Wayne, Brockhampton, Mitski, MØ and Jessie Reyez. Florence + the Machine top Saturday’s stellar lineup along with Kacey Musgraves, Vince Staples, Major Lazer, The 1975 and Ty Dolla $ign. Closing out the festivities are The Strokes, Lily Allen, SZA, Bazzi, Charli XCS and more.
Its early June scheduling puts the 2019 Governors Ball in the middle of festival season, with Southern staples like Ultra Festival, Tortuga Music Festival and Hangout Fest taking place from March to May and California’s Coachella and Stagecoach Festival occupying three consecutive weekends in April. Festivals to follow in the latter half of the season include CMA Fest, Firefly Fest, Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza.
Governors Ball will invade New York’s Randall’s Island Park for the ninth year this spring. The festival has grown in magnitude and grandeur each year since its 2011 debut, inviting powerhouses like Eminem, Childish Gambino, Janelle Monae, Guns N’ Roses, and Kendrick Lamar to grace the stage over the years. Each of this year’s headliners have frequented the festival before, but nonetheless still builds excitement over their return.
In addition to the packed line up music, Governors Ball also showcases the best food and art that New York City has to offer. Festival attendees can also get lost in an array of sprawled out lawn games and activities in between sets.
