Rob Thomas is returning to the road this spring on his Chip Tooth Tour, his first solo headlining jaunt in four years. The massive North American trek will bring Thomas to nearly 50 cities within a three month span.
Thomas will launch the tour March 29 in Santa Ynez, California but endure a two-month hiatus before kicking his road schedule into high gear. He has a full itinerary from late May through early August before wrapping in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Along the way, the Matchbox Twenty frontman will play major markets like Atlanta, Indianapolis, San Diego, Reno, Boston, Nashville and New Orleans. He has a single Canadian show set for July 20 in Ontario and will also perform a two-night stint at New York’s Beacon Theatre. A total of 45 dates make up the Chip Tooth tour. Abby Anderson is joining the road in support.
The upcoming dates are in support of Rob Thomas’ new album Chip Tooth Smile, due out April 26. His last solo release was 2015’s The Great Unknown, which was followed up with a successful tour. Although fans have not seen Rob Thomas perform his own material since then, he has not been completely absent from the road. The singer-songwriter set out on Matchbox Twenty’s Twentieth Anniversary Tour in 2017 to celebrate the band’s career milestone. Counting Crows joined the rockers on that outing, and the two bands teamed up once again in 2018 for their A Brief History of Everything Tour.
