Ellen DeGeneres — the comedian and television icon — has revealed plans for her final stand-up comedy tour, aptly named “Ellen’s Last Stand… Up.” This tour marks a milestone in DeGeneres’ career, celebrating her journey from stand-up stages to television screens, as well as her influence in the entertainment industry.
The tour is slated to kick-off on June 19 with back-to-back shows at San Diego’s Balboa Theatre. From there, the comedian is scheduled to perform in cities such as Spokane, Portland, Santa Rosa, Denver, Boston, Philadelphia, New York, and Chicago before her final performance on August 17 in Minneapolis at Orpheum Theatre.
DeGeneres’ Career in Comedy and Television
DeGeneres began her career as an emcee at a local comedy club in New Orleans, eventually transitioning to television, where she starred in the sitcom Ellen. The show aired from 1994 to 1998, became a cultural phenomenon, especially following the critically acclaimed “Puppy Episode” where DeGeneres’ character came out as a gay woman, garnering 46 million viewers and earning her a Primetime Emmy Award for writing.
Additionally, her daytime talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, ran for 19 seasons until 2022, the show won 64 Daytime Emmy® Awards, including 12 for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show as well as 12 Teen Choice Awards, five Kids’ Choice Awards, and 24 People’s Choice Awards – making her the most decorated individual in the franchise’s history.
