New York, Las Vegas Emerge as Top Entertainment Cities of 2019

New York stands alone as the runaway winner of the entertainment business. The Big Apple leads the year’s top entertainment cities in the country, based on ticket sales for all local events. New York’s strong sports environment and concert scene always keep it a fierce market within the ticketing industry. Broadway productions only heighten metropolitan entertainment and earns New York nearly double the ticket sales of the next-highest earning market of Las Vegas.

Sin City, despite having only one professional sports team, rakes in its fair share of ticket sales from endless concert residencies, high-profile boxing and MMA fights, and a variety of other events. Las Vegas also hosts several major music festivals, including the iHeartRadio Music Festival and Life Is Beautiful Festival which help boost its yearly ranking.

Thriving sports and music markets Los Angeles and Chicago closely followed, while Atlanta notched the fifth spot after hosting the year’s most sought-after event: Super Bowl LIII. Boston, Houston and Dallas scored consecutive spots in the bottom half of the Top 10 while Kansas City managed to eek in thanks to the phenomenal sales dominance of the NFL’s Chiefs. Versatile Nashville – host of the year’s best-selling music festival CMA Fest – rounds out the list.
